COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graduate Diploma in Applied Disability Studies with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) at Brock University consists of a total of 4.0 credits and is designed to provide advanced education and training in the principles and application of ABA. This diploma is well-suited for professionals looking to expand their skills in the disability sector or pursue work in applied behaviour analysis. The program includes 3.5 credits of required courses which cover the core areas of the field. These required courses are ABA Measurement, Research and Evaluation (ADST 5P70), Concepts and Principles of Behaviour Analysis (ADST 5P71), Philosophical Underpinnings of Behaviour Science (ADST 5P72), ABA Assessment and Intervention (ADST 5P73), ABA Ethics and Professional Conduct I - Assessment (ADST 5P74), ABA Supervision, Training, and Performance Management (ADST 5P75), and Professional Practice in ABA (ADST 5P76). In addition to these core courses, students must complete one 0.5 credit elective. Elective options include Topics in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ADST 5V70–5V79) and Dual Diagnosis (ADST 5P42), allowing students to explore specialized areas of interest within ABA. This diploma program includes coursework verified by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) and is designed to meet the current educational requirements for the Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification. However, due to regulatory changes in Ontario under the Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act (2021), the title of Behaviour Analyst is now restricted to members of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. As of July 1, 2026, the BACB will no longer certify Ontario residents. Courses are typically offered in a flexible part-time format, with in-person classes scheduled one weekend per month at the Burlington campus or satellite locations, and online learning components in between, accommodating working professionals seeking career advancement or certification.
