COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at Brock University offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for professional nursing practice through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In the first year, students build foundational skills with courses such as Nursing Fundamentals, Clinical Judgement and Skills, Health Assessment, alongside biology, human anatomy, physiology, and psychology. The second year deepens clinical expertise focused on adult and older-adult care, pharmacology, ethics, infection control, and includes hands-on clinical placements. In the third year, students explore advanced nursing topics, mental health across the lifespan, community and global health, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion in health care, complemented by further clinical practice and a humanities credit. The fourth year emphasizes professional practice with advanced nursing placements, applied nursing research, leadership, and transition to professional nursing. This structured progression equips students with critical thinking, clinical competence, and leadership skills essential for today’s healthcare environment. Graduates of this rigorous program are well-prepared to write the NCLEX-RN licensure exam and to excel in diverse nursing roles across various healthcare settings.
