COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology (Honours) BSc program at Brock University offers a rigorous scientific foundation in understanding human behaviour, integrating core psychology studies with courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. In Year 1, students take PSYC 1F90 along with foundational science courses in biology, chemistry, calculus, and a Humanities context credit. Year 2 focuses on research methods, brain and behaviour, and areas such as cognition, perception, lifespan development, and social psychology, with options in cellular or molecular biology. In Year 3, students complete PSYC 3P39 and PSYC 3F40 while exploring diverse electives such as adolescent development, neuropsychology, psychopharmacology, sleep, stress, and behavioural neuroscience. Additional options include biology, computer science, or physics courses to strengthen interdisciplinary knowledge. In Year 4, students choose between the Thesis or Library Research stream. The Thesis option includes PSYC 4F91, a seminar, and advanced topics such as applied cognitive psychology or human psychophysiology. The Library Research stream includes PSYC 4F97 and equivalent electives. Across all years, students gain extensive research experience, critical thinking, and analytical skills, preparing them for graduate study or careers in healthcare, neuroscience, mental health, or academic research.
