COURSE CURRICULUM

The Neuromotor stream integrates neuroscience with anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and psychology to study the neural control of movement and motor function. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses in biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and an introductory neuroscience course, alongside a half elective credit. Year 2 deepens understanding with brain and behavior foundations, molecular and cell biology, organic chemistry, human systems and musculoskeletal anatomy, applied linear algebra or calculus, and statistics in behavioral sciences. Year 3 emphasizes neurobiology, behavioral and investigative neurobiology, cognitive neuroscience or human neuropsychology, metabolic biochemistry, and kinesiology courses focused on exercise physiology, biomechanics, and motor control, with a humanities context credit. In Year 4, students choose between a thesis or library research option, with advanced courses such as balance and gait, functional assessment of the neuromuscular system, exercise physiology in aging and disease, occupational ergonomics, clinical biomechanics, and directed studies in neuroscience. Additional options include neural networks and behavior, physiology of excitable cells, neuropsychopharmacology, brain and language, and maturation and development. This program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of the biological and mechanical aspects of motor control and neuromuscular function, preparing them for careers in rehabilitation, clinical neuroscience, kinesiology, and related health sciences fields.
