COURSE CURRICULUM

The Neurocomputing stream combines neuroscience with computer science, mathematics, and biology to explore brain function through computational models and advanced technologies. In Year 1, students build foundational skills in biology, chemistry, computer science (including data structures), mathematics, physics, and psychology, along with an introductory neuroscience course. Year 2 deepens this knowledge with courses in brain and behavior, molecular biology, cell biology, organic chemistry, computer architecture, advanced data structures, physics, and statistics. Year 3 focuses on core neurobiology, behavioral neuroscience, investigative neurobiology, and artificial intelligence, complemented by electives in biochemistry, physiology, genetics, and advanced computer science topics such as algorithms and human-computer interaction. In Year 4, students choose between a thesis or library research option, engaging in specialized studies like cognitive neuroscience or human neuropsychology, neural networks, physiology of excitable cells, neuropsychopharmacology, and brain and language. Electives also include bioinformatics, robotics, artificial neural networks, genetic programming, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, and computational intelligence. Directed and empirical studies offer research opportunities, while interdisciplinary courses prepare students for careers in computational neuroscience, AI development, neurotechnology, and related fields. This program equips students with critical skills at the intersection of biology and computing, preparing them for advanced research or professional roles in neuroscience and technology-driven industries.
