COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Neuroscience stream offers an interdisciplinary approach combining neuroscience, biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, and environmental sustainability to explore the interactions between neural systems and the environment. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge in biology, chemistry, psychology, and physics alongside introductory neuroscience courses. Year 2 deepens understanding with courses on brain and behavior, molecular and cell biology, and environmental sustainability, including practical applications and evolutionary biology. Year 3 focuses on advanced neuroscience topics such as neurobiology, behavioral neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and neuropsychopharmacology, alongside environmental psychology and sustainability issues. Students also engage in computer data analysis and can participate in leadership internships related to environmental sustainability. In Year 4, students choose between a thesis option, emphasizing research and seminars, or a library research option, with advanced directed studies and empirical research opportunities. Electives from biology, neuroscience, psychology, and environmental studies further enrich the program, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests. This stream prepares students to understand the neural mechanisms underlying behavior in the context of environmental influences, equipping them for careers in neuroscience, environmental health, and related research fields.
