COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics program at Brock University offers a comprehensive curriculum that progresses through foundational to advanced mathematical concepts, integrating theory with practical application. In Year 1, students take core courses including Calculus Concepts I and II (MATH 1P01, 1P02), Linear Algebra I (MATH 1P11), and choose between Mathematics Integrated with Computers and Applications I (MATH 1P40) or Mathematical Reasoning (MATH 1P66), along with three elective credits. In Year 2, the focus deepens with courses like Multivariable Calculus (MATH 2P03), Linear Algebra II (MATH 2P12), Probability (STAT 2P81), and Mathematical Statistics I (STAT 2P82), plus either Ordinary Differential Equations (MATH 2P08) or a follow-up computer-integrated course (MATH 2P40), one upper-level MATH/STAT course, one remaining context credit (Humanities, Sciences, or Social Sciences), and one elective. Year 3 includes three advanced MATH/STAT credits, a choice among Real Analysis, Applied Algebra, Experimental Design, or Regression Analysis, plus a selection from specialized topics such as Combinatorics, Network Analysis, Computational Mathematics, or Programming-based applications, along with one elective. In Year 4, students complete one MATH or STAT course at the 200 level or above and three advanced MATH/STAT courses at the 300 level or above, plus one final elective. This structured yet flexible pathway prepares students for careers in research, data science, education, or graduate studies.
