COURSE CURRICULUM

The Geography program offers a comprehensive four-year curriculum that combines human, physical, and technical geography with a strong emphasis on research and applied learning. In Year 1, students take foundational courses including Calculus with Applications, a humanities credit, a science credit, and electives, along with geography courses such as Globalization and World Systems, Geographies of Identity and Meaning, or Vulnerability, Human Communities and Environment, as well as environmental topics like Climate, Weather, Ecosystems, Landscapes, Soils, and Water, or Human Impacts. Year 2 builds on this foundation with courses like Introduction to Geospatial Technologies, Research Design and Methodology, and electives from both geography and science, alongside specialized studies such as Earth Surface Processes, Climate Crisis, or Plate Tectonics. In Year 3, students choose between Qualitative or Quantitative Research Design and Methodology, complete a Physical Geography Field Course, and take additional geography credits across various groups, supplemented by a science credit and electives. The final year includes an Honours Internship, advanced geography courses, and further electives, with a continued focus on research methods. This curriculum prepares students with critical analytical skills, hands-on experience, and interdisciplinary knowledge to address complex geographic and environmental challenges in academic or professional settings.
