COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (BScKin) at Brock University is a bioscience-focused degree that emphasizes the scientific principles underlying human movement and prepares students for careers or postgraduate studies in allied health professions and biophysical kinesiology. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge through courses in anatomy, biology, physics, and calculus, along with social sciences and humanities context credits. Year 2 builds upon this with deeper studies in physiology, motor behaviour, nutrition, and growth and development, as well as elective options exploring the psychological and sociocultural aspects of sport. Year 3 introduces applied and analytical skills through courses like Fitness Assessment, Motor Learning, Biomechanics, and Quantitative Analysis, while incorporating science electives and upper-level credits. In the final year, students explore advanced topics such as Clinical Biomechanics and choose from a wide array of specialized electives including Environmental Exercise Physiology, Functional Anatomy, Cardiorespiratory Physiology, and Occupational Ergonomics. The curriculum balances rigorous scientific training with opportunities to understand broader issues like ethics, aging, disability, and mental health in the context of physical activity.
