Students typically complete two years of foundational coursework before beginning their co-op terms, ensuring they are academically prepared for professional settings. To enter or re-enter the program from another institution or discipline, applicants must have completed the first-year requirements with specific minimum grades in key biology and chemistry courses and meet average requirements. Continuation in the co-op stream requires maintaining a 70% major average and a 60% non-major average. Failure to meet these criteria results in transfer to the non-co-op stream, with the possibility of re-entry subject to approval. The co-op experience is governed by clear regulations; students must register for each work term and are expected to honor their employment commitments. Withdrawal from a work placement requires official approval.
