COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Public Health program is structured over four years and combines foundational coursework, specialized public health training, electives, and co-op work placements. In Year 1, students complete an introduction to health sciences, humanities and science context credits, electives, and introductory statistics courses. Year 2 builds core competencies with courses in biostatistics, research methods, health and behaviour, and Canadian public health, along with professional preparation for co-op and additional electives. Students also choose from subjects such as physiology, health economics, nutrition, anatomy, and infection control. Co-op students participate in work placements and reflective learning during spring and summer sessions. In Year 3, students advance their knowledge through biostatistics, health policy, qualitative research, and health campaign development, while selecting upper-year electives in areas such as mental health, health promotion, global health, gender and health, and health psychology. A second co-op placement is completed during this year. Year 4 focuses on advanced topics including a public health capstone, epidemiology research methods, and diversity and health, alongside senior electives such as environmental health, infectious diseases, and health administration. A final co-op placement and integration seminar complete the program, ensuring strong academic and practical experience.
