COURSE CURRICULUM

The Indigenous Adult Education program offers two distinct pathways, Program A and Program B, each designed to provide a deep understanding of Indigenous teaching, leadership, and curriculum development. Both programs include core courses such as ABED 4F84 – Introduction to Indigenous Adult Education, ABED 4F85 – Indigenous Curriculum Theory and Design, ABED 4F86 – Indigenous Ways of Teaching and Learning, ABED 4F87 – Indigenous Leadership Issues, and ABED 4F88 – Indigenous Teacher Development, which collectively explore the foundations and contemporary practices of Indigenous education. Program B further integrates a broader academic context by requiring one Humanities context credit, one Sciences context credit, one Social Sciences context credit, two credits numbered 1(alpha)00 or above, and five credits numbered 2(alpha)00 or above, fostering interdisciplinary learning and a more comprehensive educational experience. Both programs aim to prepare students to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with Indigenous knowledge systems and educational frameworks, empowering them to become leaders and educators who contribute meaningfully to Indigenous adult education. Through this program, students gain the skills and insights necessary to support Indigenous learners and communities while promoting culturally relevant and effective teaching practices.
