COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physical Education program at Brock offers a comprehensive curriculum that spans four years, beginning with foundational courses such as Human Anatomy, Human Systems Anatomy, and Foundations of Movement Studies, along with introductory biology and humanities and social sciences credits. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge with courses like Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Fundamental Movement Skills, Motor Behaviour, Human Physiology, and Research Design in Kinesiology, while also exploring health promotion and human growth and development. The third year focuses on specialized subjects such as Exercise Physiology, Adapted Physical Education, Biomechanics, and courses on sport psychology, mental health, and the sociology and history of sport. Students can also choose activity-based classes including gymnastics, dance, fitness activities, aquatics, martial arts, and outdoor education, allowing practical application alongside theoretical learning. In the fourth year, students study Physical Activity Across the Lifespan, advanced electives, and explore training principles, team sports, alternative physical activities, and ethical and philosophical aspects of sport. This structured yet flexible program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary for careers in physical education, coaching, health promotion, and inclusive sport environments, while fostering a deep understanding of the physical, social, and psychological dimensions of human movement and activity.
