COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Business Economics (BBE) program, offered at the Main Campus, is a distinctive degree in Canada that combines rigorous economics training with essential business skills. Students begin with foundational courses in accounting, micro and macroeconomics, statistics, and calculus, along with humanities and sciences context credits. In Year 2, all students deepen their understanding through intermediate economic theory, econometrics, Canadian economic issues, finance, marketing, and management accounting. By Year 3, students select one of two specialized streams. The Financial Economics stream focuses on advanced courses in money and banking, financial theory, corporate finance, and mathematical economics, preparing students for roles in banking, investment, and financial services. The Consumer Economics stream includes studies in industrial organization, marketing research, strategy, and consumer behaviour, with electives in marketing and applied economic analysis, ideal for careers in market research and business strategy. Both streams culminate in advanced courses in micro and macroeconomics, forecasting, and empirical methods such as microeconometrics or machine learning. Throughout the program, students also complete a variety of non-business electives, fostering a well-rounded education. This program equips graduates with analytical, quantitative, and communication skills highly valued across sectors, making it a strong foundation for careers in economics, finance, policy, and marketing.
