COURSE CURRICULUM

The Tourism Management program’s curriculum is carefully structured to provide a comprehensive education that combines foundational knowledge with specialized and experiential learning. In Year 1, students begin with core courses such as Introduction to Tourism and Tourism Industry Sectors, alongside studies in communication, humanities, sciences, and electives, including geography options like Globalization and World Systems or Geographies of Identity and Meaning. Year 2 builds on this foundation with courses in research design and methodology, planning and community development, and specialized geography subjects like Social Geography, Cultural and Historical Geography, or Resource and Environmental Geographies, complemented by tourism electives. Year 3 emphasizes advanced research methods, tourism planning, and development, including a Human Geography and Tourism Studies Field Course, while students complete further tourism, geography, and elective credits to deepen their understanding of tourism dynamics. In the final year, students focus on advanced tourism and geography topics, fulfilling credit requirements through upper-level courses and electives that allow for exploration of emerging issues in tourism management. This curriculum balances theoretical frameworks, practical skills, and interdisciplinary perspectives, preparing students for diverse roles within the tourism industry and equipping them to address sustainable tourism challenges in a rapidly changing global context.
