COURSE CURRICULUM

The Geography program offers a structured, multi-year curriculum designed to build comprehensive knowledge and skills across human, physical, and technical geography fields. In Year 1, students take foundational courses such as Globalization and World Systems, Geographies of Identity and Meaning, or Vulnerability, Human Communities and Environment, alongside environmental studies like Climate, Weather, Ecosystems, Landscapes, Soils, and Water, or Human Impacts. They also complete humanities, social sciences, and elective credits to support a well-rounded education. Year 2 introduces core technical skills and research methods with courses like Introduction to Geospatial Technologies and Research Design and Methodology, plus topics such as Earth Surface Processes, Climate Crisis, or Plate Tectonics, alongside additional geography, social sciences, and electives. In Year 3, students deepen their research skills through Qualitative or Quantitative Research Design and Methodology and take specialized courses including Human Geography and Tourism Studies Field Course, alongside a combination of geography electives from various groups and general electives. The final year includes an Honours Internship, advanced geography courses, and further electives, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings and prepare for careers or graduate studies. This integrated curriculum ensures students graduate with practical experience, critical research skills, and a strong interdisciplinary understanding of geographic issues.
