COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Communication (BA with Major) program at Brock University, offered at the Main Campus, equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to become effective communicators in today’s fast-paced business and media environments. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through courses in communication theory, professional writing, business communication, and film studies, alongside context credits in sciences and social sciences. Year 2 introduces advanced topics such as communication theory, organizational culture, marketing, media industries, and research methods, with options to explore digital identities, social media, or the information society. In Year 3, students engage in specialized study of media analysis, audience research, communication policy, and integrated marketing communications, while also gaining insights into organizational behaviour and human resources. The final year offers flexible course options in advanced communication topics and business electives in areas like marketing, entrepreneurship, and organizational studies. Throughout the program, students explore how communication operates within businesses, media systems, and society, analyzing the roles of branding, digital media, audience engagement, and public relations. With a blend of social science theory and applied business education, graduates develop the critical thinking, strategic messaging, and ethical communication skills required to lead in a variety of industries.
