COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering Technology – Mechanical Manufacturing program spans four levels over two years, totaling 132.5 credits, with the first two levels common to all mechanical engineering specializations. In Level 1 (15 weeks), students build foundational knowledge with courses in engineering materials, technical communication, basic technical mathematics, an introduction to mechanical engineering, engineering graphics, statics, and computer applications and programming. Level 2 (20 weeks) advances this foundation with courses in engineering materials 2, calculus, manufacturing processes, engineering graphics 2, strength of materials, dynamics, and physics tailored for mechanical engineering. Levels 3 and 4 focus on the mechanical manufacturing specialization. In Level 3 (15 weeks), students delve into more applied topics such as electrical equipment, material removal processes, computer-aided manufacturing, tool design, plastics manufacturing, and production engineering management. Level 4 (20 weeks) emphasizes specialized skills with courses in technical communication 2, metrology, process planning and CNC programming, material joining processes, thermofluids for manufacturing, and a manufacturing project. Additional courses include statistical quality control, ethics for technologists, control systems (a 10-week course), and total quality management. The curriculum is designed to equip students with both theoretical understanding and hands-on technical expertise in mechanical manufacturing, covering everything from materials science and CAD to quality control and production management.
