COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Network Cybersecurity diploma program at BCIT is structured over several terms to provide a comprehensive and practical education, totaling 115 credits. In Term 1 (15 weeks), students build foundational knowledge with courses such as Introduction to Windows PC Systems Administration (4 credits), Python Scripting (4 credits), Technical Communications 1 (3 credits), Electrical Systems (5 credits), Networking Fundamentals (5 credits), and Technical Mathematics (6 credits). Term 2A (15 weeks) advances these skills with Linux System Administration (4 credits), Industrial Systems and Safety (4 credits), Engineering Fundamentals (4 credits), Advanced Networking (5 credits), Programmable Logic Controllers (4 credits), and Calculus (4 credits). A focused 5-week Term 2B offers an intensive Industrial Networking course worth 8 credits. In Term 3 (15 weeks), students deepen their expertise with Windows Server Administration (4 credits), Process Measurement and Control Fundamentals (5 credits), Industrial Network Security (6 credits), Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing (6 credits), and Embedded Systems (4 credits). Term 4A (15 weeks) covers Virtualization and Database Systems (6 credits), Technical Communication 2 (3 credits), Distributed Control and Safety Instrumented Systems (4 credits), Cyber Operations (6 credits), and ICS Cybersecurity Standards (6 credits). Finally, Term 4B (5 weeks) includes Technical Communication 3 (1 credit) and a Culminating Project (4 credits), allowing students to apply their accumulated knowledge in a practical setting.
