COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Instrumentation and Process Control Technician program consists of four terms, each lasting 15 weeks, with a total of 120 credits. In Term 1, students build a foundation in electrical concepts and instrumentation fundamentals, covering courses such as DC Electricity, Industrial Instrumentation, and Process Control Technician, Instrumentation Fundamentals, AC Electricity and Transistors, and Power Supplies & Operational Amplifiers. This term emphasizes the essential electrical and electronic principles necessary for instrumentation work. Term 2 focuses on specialized measurement instruments and systems, including Pressure Instruments and Measurement, Flow Instruments and Measurements, Level and Density Instruments, Control Valves and Positioners, and Hydraulic Systems. These courses introduce students to the various devices used to monitor and control industrial processes. Term 3 advances into temperature measurement and control systems with courses like Temperature Instruments and Measurement, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI), Analog and Microprocessor-Based Controllers, and Process Control and Control Systems, equipping students with programming and system integration skills. In the final Term 4, students study advanced instrumentation and control topics including Analytical Instruments and Control, Field Effect Transistors and Digital Logic, Distributed Control Systems, Boiler Control and Foundation Fieldbus, and Viscosity, Consistency, Pulp Blend & Batch Control. Throughout the program, hands-on learning and theoretical knowledge combine to prepare students for careers in industrial process control, enabling them to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and program instrumentation systems essential for modern manufacturing and industrial environments.
