The Financial Planning Diploma at BCIT is a comprehensive two-year, full-time program totaling 107.5 credits and structured over four progressive levels, designed to equip students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge in investment and financial planning. In Level 1 (15 weeks), students are introduced to foundational business concepts through courses such as Business Information Systems, Business Communication 1, Microeconomics, Accounting 1 for Financial Management, Essentials of Marketing, and Business Mathematics. This strong base supports more advanced financial learning in Level 2 (20 weeks), which includes Applied Data Analytics in Excel, Introduction to Organizational Development, Business Communication 2, Macroeconomics, Accounting 2 for Financial Management, Introduction to Finance (half-term course), and Business Statistics. Level 3 (15 weeks) builds on this by diving deeper into specialized financial subjects with courses such as Business Law, Financial Statement Analysis 1, Income Tax for Financial Planning, Finance 1, Security Analysis 1, and Fundamentals of Financial Planning, ensuring students understand both the regulatory and strategic sides of financial services. In the final Level 4 (20 weeks), the program culminates with advanced study in Financial Statement Analysis 2, Finance 2, Financial Services, Security Analysis 2, Financial Analytics in Excel, and Comprehensive Financial Planning, alongside specialized half-term courses like Advanced Curriculum in Financial Planning and Career Preparation.
