COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance Diploma program at BCIT is a rigorous two-year, full-time program consisting of 109.5 credits, structured over four levels to provide students with a strong foundation in accounting, finance, economics, and investment principles. In Level 1 (15 weeks), students develop essential business knowledge through courses like Business Information Systems, Business Communication 1, Microeconomics, Accounting 1 for Financial Management, Essentials of Marketing, and Business Mathematics, totaling 21 credits. Progressing to Level 2 (20 weeks), the curriculum advances with Applied Data Analytics in Excel, Introduction to Organizational Development, Business Communication 2, Macroeconomics, Accounting 2 for Financial Management, Introduction to Finance (half-term course), and Business Statistics, strengthening analytical and financial skills. Level 3 (15 weeks) focuses on core financial and accounting practices with courses such as Business Law, Financial Statement Analysis 1, Cost/Managerial Accounting 1, Taxation 1, Finance 1, and Security Analysis 1, developing deeper expertise in financial evaluation and investment. In Level 4 (20 weeks), students complete the program with advanced coursework in Financial Statement Analysis 2, Cost and Managerial Accounting 2, Taxation 2, Finance 2, Enterprise Finance (half-term course), Security Analysis 2, Financial Analytics in Excel, and Career Preparation, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical tools for workplace readiness. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience in accounting software, financial modeling, and investment analysis while enhancing communication and decision-making skills.
