COURSE CURRICULUM

The 3D Modeling, Art and Animation diploma program at BCIT spans five intensive terms over 18 months, delivering a total of 110 credits and comprehensive training across all areas of 3D production. In Term 1, students build foundational skills with courses like Art Foundations, 3D Modeling 1, Texturing 1, Rigging 1, Lighting and Rendering 1, and 3D Animation 1. Term 2 deepens technical proficiency through advanced versions of these courses, including Texturing 2, Rigging 2, and Digital Sculpting, while continuing development in animation, modeling, and rendering. In Term 3, the focus shifts toward production pipelines and portfolio development with Game Design Pipeline 1, Rigging 3, Texturing 3, 3D Modeling 3, Lighting and Rendering 3, and Portfolio Production 1. Term 4 introduces collaborative and industry-aligned projects, including a group-based Collaborative Project, Game Design Pipeline 2, Emerging Trends in 3D Arts, and the continued development of 3D Modeling and Animation at advanced levels, along with Portfolio Production 2. The final term, Term 5, is highly focused on career readiness, featuring 3D Arts Directed Studies, a Demo Reel Production Capstone Project, and Professional Self-Marketing and Presentation. By program end, students will have developed a comprehensive demo reel and portfolio showcasing their technical and creative expertise, ready to launch into roles in gaming, film, television, or interactive media industries.
