COURSE CURRICULUM

The Airline and Flight Operations Commercial Pilot Diploma program at BCIT is a comprehensive 64-week course divided into four terms, offering a total of 127.5 credits that combine academic knowledge with practical flight training. In Term 1, spanning 19 weeks, students study foundational subjects such as Airport and Airside Operations, Occupational Health and Safety in Aviation, Safety Management Systems, and the basics of the airline industry, alongside Private Pilot Ground School and Flight Training, Meteorology, and Aviation Communication skills. Term 2, lasting 13 weeks, deepens knowledge in Air Navigation, Aviation Leadership, Safety and Risk Management, Public Relations, Ground Handling Procedures, and Survival Skills, while continuing Private Pilot Flight Licensing and security system studies. Term 3, a 17-week session, focuses on Commercial Pilot Flight Training, Crew Resource Management, Emergency Management, and Commercial Pilot Ground School, building essential skills for commercial pilot licencing. The final Term 4, over 15 weeks, includes advanced training with Multi-Engine Ground School, Flight Training, Instrument Rating Ground and Flight Training, Advanced IFR Procedures, and career planning, culminating with advanced multi-crew coordination skills. This program thoroughly prepares students for a career as a commercial pilot by combining rigorous academic study, practical flight experience, and industry-focused training, ensuring graduates meet the standards set by Transport Canada and the aviation industry.
