COURSE CURRICULUM

The Metal Fabricator Foundation program is a comprehensive 46-credit curriculum designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for a career in metal fabrication. It begins with foundational courses such as Apply Safe Work Practices, Math for Metal Fabricators, and Interpretation of Drawings for Fabricators, ensuring students understand safety protocols, technical math, and blueprint reading. Practical hands-on training is emphasized through courses like Hand and Power Tools, Metal Fabrication Shop Equipment, and Develop & Layout Templates, providing familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the trade. Students also learn specialized fabrication techniques in Thermal Cutting Equipment & Processes and Arc Welding Processes. Advanced skills are developed through Pattern Development, Handle Materials, and Project Finishing, focusing on accuracy and quality craftsmanship. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to Shop Practical Projects, offering real-world experience in metalworking tasks, while the Perform Quality Control course teaches students how to assess and ensure the quality of their work. Together, these courses prepare graduates for entry-level roles in industries such as forestry, mining, construction, transportation, and agriculture, where they will fabricate components for bridges, buildings, conveyors, cranes, heavy equipment, and ship parts, making them well-rounded and job-ready metal fabricators.
