COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Interior Design program’s upper-level curriculum spans Levels 5 through 8, totaling 65 credits and combining core courses, electives, and optional co-op work terms to prepare students for professional practice. In Level 5 (Fall), students focus on foundational skills with courses such as Research Methods (INTD 5100), Systems and Trade Liaison (INTD 5110), Degree Studio A: Inclusive Environments (INTD 5300), and Interior Construction Detailing (INTD 5310), earning a total of 16 credits. Level 6 (Winter) builds on this foundation with Degree Studio B: Cultural Exploration (INTD 6300), Field Study for Interior Design (INTD 6370), and 6 credits of program or general education electives, emphasizing cultural context and applied learning. Between Levels 6 and 7, students may opt to complete a Co-operative Education Workterm (INTD 6990 and INTD 7990), providing 48 credits of practical industry experience to enhance their skills. Level 7 (Fall) deepens professional expertise with courses in Proposal Writing for Interior Design (COMM 7520), Professional Practice (INTD 7340), Capstone Proposal (INTD 7500), and Applied Ethics (LIBS 7002), along with 3 credits of electives. The final Level 8 (Winter) focuses on professional communication skills (COMM 8520), industry experience (INTD 8370), and culminates in the comprehensive Capstone Project (INTD 8500), supplemented by liberal studies electives. Program and general education electives, including courses like Acoustic Science and Ecology (BSCI 5200), provide additional breadth. Transfer credit for electives may be available from other institutions.
