COURSE CURRICULUM

The Technical Arts Advanced Diploma is structured over three terms, totaling 45 credits, designed to provide comprehensive training in the field of technical arts with a focus on scripting, 3D applications, and project management. In Term 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Technical Art Foundations: Scripting, which introduces core scripting concepts, and Technical Art Foundations: 3D Applications, which covers essential tools and techniques for working in 3D environments. They also take Technical Arts 1 to develop their technical artistry further, Project Management for Technical Arts to learn how to manage workflows effectively, and Visual Scripting to understand node-based scripting systems. Term 2 advances these skills with courses like Game Art Assets, focusing on creating optimized assets for game development, and Scripting in 3D Applications, which deepens scripting capabilities within 3D software. Technical Arts 2 expands the student’s technical knowledge, while Data Structures for Technical Arts introduces important programming concepts related to data management. The term culminates with a Technical Arts Team Project, encouraging collaboration and practical application of skills in a group setting. Term 3 includes specialized courses such as Effects and Dynamics, where students explore visual effects and simulations, and Technical Arts 3, which builds on prior technical coursework. Advanced Scripting teaches more complex programming techniques, while Team Skills for Technical Arts focuses on interpersonal and professional collaboration within production teams. The program concludes with the Technical Arts Capstone Project, a comprehensive, hands-on project that challenges students to synthesize all their learning and demonstrate their ability to integrate artistic and technical skills in a real-world production environment.
