COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Business Leadership at BCIT is structured over three terms, totaling 46 credits, designed to develop students’ expertise in sustainable business practices through a progressive curriculum. In Term 1 (Foundations), students build core knowledge with courses such as Sustainable Business Leadership: Skills and Values, Earth Systems and Environmental Policy, Sustainable Business Models, and Sustainable Business Operations, each worth 4 credits, focusing on fundamental concepts and operational strategies necessary for responsible leadership. Term 2 (Design) shifts toward applying this foundation, featuring a 6-credit Sustainable Business Leadership Consulting Project Development course where students begin hands-on project work, alongside Sustainable Business Strategy, Circular Economy, and Impact Measurement & Reporting courses that deepen strategic thinking and sustainability metrics over 3 credits each. The final term, Term 3 (Management), emphasizes practical leadership and management skills with Sustainable Business Leadership Consulting Project Delivery (6 credits), where students implement their consulting projects, complemented by courses in Producing a Data-Driven Impact Report, Sustainability Management Systems for Business Leaders, and Sustainable Change Management and Leadership, each worth 3 credits. This term fosters advanced skills in managing sustainable change, using data to measure impact, and leading with a focus on continuous improvement and organizational transformation. The program integrates theory with extensive applied learning, preparing graduates to lead sustainability initiatives and drive meaningful environmental and social impact within diverse industries.
