COURSE CURRICULUM

The program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for leadership and innovation in health and human services. In Term 1, students take foundational courses such as Organizational Behaviour and Introduction to Human Resources, each worth three credits. They then choose at least nine credits from a variety of specialized courses including Intercultural Communication, Program Design and Evaluation, Fundraising in Health and Human Services, Managing Change, Digital Transformations, Chronic Illness Management, Leadership in Dementia Care, Social Determinants of Health, Implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action, Case Management, Pedagogical Leadership in Early Childhood Education, Designing and Facilitating Learning Experiences, Trauma-Informed Organizations, and Managing the Canadian Health System. These electives offer diverse perspectives and practical skills relevant to various sectors. Term 2 includes required courses such as Fundamentals of Financial Management and Introduction to Management, providing essential business and management knowledge. Students select at least six credits from many of the same electives offered in Term 1, allowing them to deepen expertise in specific areas of interest. Additionally, students must earn at least three credits through applied research or service-learning projects focused on community and health leadership. This structure ensures students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical experience, equipping them to lead effectively and drive positive change in health and human services fields. The program is flexible and designed to accommodate learners with different backgrounds and career goals.
