COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is structured over two terms and provides students with a comprehensive foundation in health care administration and support. In Term 1, students take courses such as Role Concepts in Health Care, which introduces the responsibilities and expectations within health care settings, and Introduction to Health Care Fundamentals, covering essential health care knowledge. Medical Terminology is a key course that equips students with the language necessary for effective communication in medical environments. Business Communication and Computer Applications courses develop important administrative and digital skills that are critical for office efficiency. In Term 2, students focus on more specialized topics including Fundamentals of Medical Orders, which teaches the management and processing of medical directives, and Unit Coordinating Skills that prepare students to handle the coordination of patient care units. Administrative Skills for Health Care and Financial Management for the Medical Office build on organizational and financial competencies necessary for managing medical office operations. Clinical Skills for the Medical Office is designed to enhance understanding of basic clinical procedures and support. Additionally, students must complete at least 3 credits from applied research, service learning, or field placement options, providing hands-on experience and practical application of their learning. This structure ensures graduates are well-prepared to manage health care workflows efficiently, combining technical knowledge, clinical understanding, and administrative expertise for a successful career in health care settings.
