COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resources Certificate program consists of two terms designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices. In Term 1, students take courses such as Change Management, Introduction to Human Resources, Employment Law, Occupational Health and Safety, and Organizational Behaviour. These foundational courses introduce students to key concepts like managing organizational change, legal aspects of employment, workplace safety standards, and how individuals and groups behave within organizations. Term 2 focuses on more specialized HR topics including Compensation & Benefits, Labour Relations, Employee Learning and Development, and Talent Acquisition and Retention. These courses build skills in designing effective compensation systems, managing relationships between employers and unions, developing employee skills, and attracting and keeping top talent. Additionally, students must earn at least three credits from either a Human Resources Capstone Project or a Human Resources Field Placement, allowing them to apply their learning in practical or real-world settings. This program equips students with the necessary skills to understand and support HR functions across various industries. The curriculum also integrates hands-on experience with strategic HR knowledge, preparing graduates to address workforce challenges, promote positive work environments, and contribute to organizational success. Overall, the program offers a well-rounded education that balances theory with practice, setting students up for meaningful careers in human resources.
