COURSE CURRICULUM

Algoma University’s 16-month, course-based Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, offered in Sault Ste. Marie, provides students with a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for careers in data science and business analytics. The program consists of six required courses, two electives, and a mandatory two-semester capstone project where students solve real-world problems using actual data, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Students maintain full-time status throughout the program and pay applicable tuition, ancillary, and insurance fees for all four semesters. The program offers flexibility in the electives term, allowing students to study either at the Sault Ste. Marie or Brampton campuses. Core courses include Database Management Systems, Statistical Analysis and Predictive Modeling, Decision Analytics, Machine Learning, and Data Visualization and Communication, with electives available in areas like Deep Learning and Financial Analytics. Prior to the start of classes, students participate in a mandatory pre-program bootcamp that covers Python, SQL, and statistics tutorials, with optional refreshers in foundational mathematics such as probability, calculus, and linear algebra to ensure a smooth transition into the program. The Analytics Capstone Project bridges classroom learning with industry application, equipping graduates with the skills and experience needed to excel in the competitive field of business analytics.
