COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science (Mathematics) Degree is a two-year foundational undergraduate program consisting of 60 credits, designed to prepare students for further study in mathematics, science, or related fields. The program provides a structured combination of English, mathematics, science, and arts courses to build strong analytical and academic skills. Students complete 6 credits of first-year English, including ENGL 100, to develop essential communication and academic writing abilities. A minimum of 6 credits in introductory mathematics is required, including MATH 151 and MATH 152, which establish foundational concepts in calculus and algebra. A major component of the program is 36 credits in science and mathematics-related coursework. This includes CPSC 111, along with advanced mathematics courses such as MATH 232, MATH 251, and MATH 255, as well as either CPSC 115 or MATH 115, providing exposure to programming and computational thinking. Students must also complete at least 18 credits of second-year science courses across multiple subject areas to ensure academic breadth and progression. In addition, the program requires 6 credits in arts courses other than English, mathematics, or laboratory science, and a further 6 credits in arts, science, or other approved areas. Overall, the program builds strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for continued university study in mathematics, computing, or scientific disciplines.
