COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science (Computer Science) Degree is a two-year foundational undergraduate program consisting of 60 credits, designed to prepare students for further study in computer science and related technical fields. The program provides a structured combination of English, mathematics, computer science, science, and arts courses to build strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. Students complete 6 credits of first-year English, including ENGL 100, to develop academic writing and communication skills. They also complete 6 credits of mathematics, including MATH 151 and MATH 152, which provide essential foundations in calculus and algebra for computational thinking. A minimum of 21 credits in computer science is required, with core science coursework including CPSC 111, CPSC 112, and CPSC 150, along with either CPSC 115 or MATH 115. At least 18 credits must be completed in second-year science courses across multiple subject areas, including CPSC 225 and two additional courses from CPSC 215, CPSC 250, or CPSC 276, ensuring progression to more advanced computing concepts. The program also includes 6 credits in arts courses outside English, mathematics, and laboratory science, and a further 6 credits in arts, science, or other approved areas. Overall, the program builds strong foundations in programming, data structures, and computational systems, preparing students for advanced university study in computer science.
