ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Established in 2006 under the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education, the college offers undergraduate degree and transfer programs, including University Transfer, Associate of Arts, and Associate of Science degrees. It attracts a diverse student body from over 60 countries. To support non-native English speakers, Alexander College provides an integrated English for Academic Purposes program aimed at helping students transition to university-level studies conducted in English. The college is recognized and accredited by several bodies, including the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, the Degree Quality Assurance Board, and BC Education Quality Assurance. It also participates in the BC Transfer System, which facilitates credit transfers among post-secondary institutions in British Columbia. The academic calendar is divided into four terms: Fall (September to December), Winter (January to April), Spring (May to July), and a Summer intensive session (July to August). The college is named after Sir Alexander Mackenzie, a Scottish-born explorer and author known for his fur trade adventures. Initially, Alexander College focused on University Transfer and English for Academic Purposes programs for first- and second-year undergraduates. In 2006, it received approval to offer the Associate of Arts degree, followed by the Associate of Science degree in 2011.
