COURSE CURRICULUM

Acadia’s Master of Science in Computer Science is designed to be completed within 12 to 16 months and provides an in-depth academic and research experience. The program is delivered in-person at Acadia University and includes 21 credit-hours of advanced coursework taken across the Fall, Winter, and the following Fall semesters. This graduate program is ideal for students who wish to deepen their knowledge of computer science in areas such as applications, systems, and theoretical foundations, while also enhancing their research and analytical skills.In the first term, students take a core course, Research Methods in Computer Science, which introduces essential methodologies for conducting high-quality academic research. Alongside this, students register for two advanced courses that align with their area of interest within computer science. These may focus on topics like artificial intelligence, databases, software engineering, networking, or computational theory. The second term builds on this foundation, continuing with Research Methods and introducing two more advanced courses, allowing students to explore different domains or specialize further.In the final term, typically during the second Fall semester, students complete three additional advanced courses to round out their academic training. These courses are chosen in consultation with a supervisor and are intended to support the development of the student's thesis or major research project. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to work closely with faculty and peers, contributing to collaborative research environments where new ideas are constantly explored.This program equips graduates with the skills necessary for success in both academic and professional settings. Whether aiming for doctoral studies or pursuing roles in industry, students graduate with strong technical competencies, research experience, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of computer science.
