COURSE CURRICULUM

Acadia University offers three distinct Master of Education (MEd) programs tailored to meet the evolving needs of educators and professionals working in diverse educational settings. Each program combines academic rigor with practical application, and is designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate both full-time and part-time learners.The MEd in Counselling is aimed at individuals pursuing careers as school counsellors or those interested in working in counselling roles within community agencies. This program meets the professional certification standards of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), ensuring graduates are well-prepared for professional practice. The program begins with Summer Institute courses held on campus in Wolfville and can be completed on either a full-time or part-time basis, offering flexibility for working professionals.The MEd in Curriculum Studies is intended for teachers and administrators who wish to deepen their understanding of curriculum design, implementation, and research. In addition to the general stream, Acadia offers specialized cohort options for Music Educators and Health Interprofessionals, which provide tailored learning experiences and peer collaboration opportunities in these fields. The program fosters critical engagement with current educational practices and encourages the development of innovative curriculum approaches.The MEd in Inclusive Education has recently undergone a restructuring. While the general program is currently paused, a new specialized stream launched in 2022: the MEd in Inclusive Education with a focus on Equity and Social Justice. This part-time cohort program supports educators looking to lead inclusive and equitable practices in schools and other educational settings. The program is ideal for those with a background in inclusive education who aspire to advance equity-based leadership.
