COURSE CURRICULUM

Acadia University’s Nutrition and Dietetics program, students build a solid foundation in both the sciences and core nutrition concepts through a carefully structured set of courses. In the first semester, students begin with BIOL 1813 (Human Biology 1), CHEM 1013 and its accompanying lab (General Chemistry 1), NUTR 1313 (Human Nutrition 1), and NUTR 1333 with lab (Food 1), alongside PSYC 1013 (Introductory Psychology 1). These courses introduce essential knowledge about the human body, the chemical properties of food, and basic principles of nutrition and food preparation. In the second semester, the learning continues with CHEM 1023 and its lab (General Chemistry 2), NUTR 1323 (Human Nutrition 2), and NUTR 1343 with lab (Food 2), allowing students to deepen their understanding of nutrient metabolism and food systems. PSYC 1023 (Introductory Psychology 2) expands the behavioral science component, while an English or language elective supports the development of strong communication skills. This blend of biological sciences, practical labs, and behavioral studies provides a comprehensive and applied first-year experience, setting the stage for advanced topics in nutrition, dietetics, and health promotion in later years of the degree.
