COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Environmental Science program, students build a solid foundation through a combination of core science courses and electives designed to broaden their understanding. The first semester includes “Our Dynamic Earth” with a lab component, introducing students to the geological processes shaping our planet. General Chemistry 1 with lab provides essential chemical principles, while “Introduction to Environmental Science 1” offers an overview of environmental systems and issues. The biology sequence begins with “Organisms and their Environment 1,” including lab work to study living organisms and their interactions with ecosystems. Additionally, students select an elective course to explore other areas of interest. In the second semester, students continue their studies with “Earth History: Global Change through Time” and its accompanying lab, focusing on geological history and environmental shifts. General Chemistry 2 with lab builds on the first chemistry course, deepening scientific knowledge. “Introduction to Environmental Science 2” further expands environmental concepts, and “Organisms and their Environment 2” with lab continues the study of biological systems. Another elective allows students to tailor their education to their personal interests. This comprehensive first-year curriculum equips students with a broad and practical understanding of environmental science, preparing them for more specialized study in subsequent years.
