COURSE CURRICULUM

Environmental Geoscience program, students begin by building a solid foundation in earth sciences, chemistry, biology, and environmental studies. During the first semester, courses include Our Dynamic Earth with an accompanying lab, General Chemistry 1 with lab, Introduction to Environmental Science 1, and Organisms and their Environment 1 with lab, alongside an elective course of the student’s choice. These courses provide a broad understanding of the natural world, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience. In the second semester, students deepen their knowledge with Earth History: Global Change through Time, General Chemistry 2, Introduction to Environmental Science 2, and Organisms and their Environment 2, along with another elective. This progression ensures students gain a well-rounded understanding of environmental processes and the history of the planet, preparing them for advanced study. Electives allow students to tailor their learning to their interests, enhancing their educational experience. Throughout the year, students benefit from a balance of lectures, labs, and field experiences, fostering critical thinking and practical skills essential for a career in environmental geoscience. This first-year curriculum sets the stage for specialized study and prepares students to address complex environmental challenges effectively.
