COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first term of the Politics program, students take foundational courses such as POLS 1303 Law, Politics & Government, which introduces key concepts and structures in political systems. Alongside this, ENGL 1413 Writing & Reading Critically 1 develops essential communication skills needed for effective analysis and expression. Students also begin language studies with a course in a language other than English, enhancing their cultural understanding and global perspective. Additionally, an introductory humanities course broadens students’ knowledge in areas such as history, philosophy, or literature, while an introductory science course adds balance to their academic experience by fostering analytical and empirical thinking. In the second term, students deepen their understanding of global political issues with POLS 1403 Global Politics, Law and Culture, exploring how law and culture interact on the international stage. ENGL 1423 Writing & Reading Critically 2 further hones critical writing and reading abilities. Students continue their language studies with another course in a language other than English, strengthening their linguistic skills. The second term also includes another introductory humanities course and a science course, maintaining a well-rounded first-year curriculum that prepares students to engage thoughtfully with political, cultural, and scientific perspectives in their ongoing studies. This combination of courses lays a strong foundation for future specialized political studies.
