COURSE CURRICULUM

Environmental & Sustainability Studies program, students build a solid foundation through a mix of core and elective courses designed to introduce key concepts and broaden their understanding of sustainability and the environment. The first semester includes essential courses such as Sustainability Concepts (ESST 1003 and ESST 1000L), Environment & Sustainable Society (CODE 1023), and Environmental Science (ENVS 1013), which provide students with a comprehensive overview of the scientific, social, and ethical dimensions of sustainability. Alongside these core classes, students select two electives that allow them to explore areas of personal interest and begin tailoring their education to their goals. In the second semester, students deepen their knowledge with Environmental Perspectives (ESST 1023) and choose four electives to further expand their understanding and skills in various related disciplines. This structure encourages interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking, enabling students to connect theory with real-world issues. The combination of required and elective courses in the first year equips students with the tools to analyze complex environmental challenges and consider sustainable solutions, setting the stage for more advanced study and practical engagement in sustainability efforts throughout their academic journey.
