For students who want to study abroad, New Zealand is now an even more attractive option. As of 3 November 2025, New Zealand has introduced student visa rules that are beneficial not just for students from other countries but also for New Zealand's education sector, which is growing rapidly.
There are two announcements that will help current and future students.
1) New Zealand wants to increase the number of students by 2034.
2) Students can now work hours during the school semester from 20 hours a week to 25 hours a week starting from November 2025.

The New Zealand government has set goals to increase the number of international students in the next ten years. Here is what the plan looks like:
a) 2024: 83,400 international students
b) 2027: 1,05,000 international students
c) 2034: 1,19,000 international students
This is news for international students: New Zealand has increased the number of hours students can work part-time from 20 to 25 hours a week during the school semester. This change should help students manage their money better and gain work experience while they are in school.
a) All new New Zealand student visas that are approved on or after 3 November 2025.
b) This includes applications that were submitted before the date but approved on or after it.

b) They can submit a New Zealand student visa application.
Note: Students will have to pay the New Zealand immigration fees.

Some popular jobs for students are sales, hospitality jobs like waiting tables or making coffee, tutoring, delivery jobs and customer service jobs.
