COURSE CURRICULUM

Sustainable water systems and environmental resource management, combining scientific, technical, and policy-based learning. The structure includes a 20-credit-point core component that builds foundational knowledge in research methods and applied environmental studies, along with a 20-credit-point Research Capstone Pool where students undertake a research project or professional topic to integrate and apply their learning to real-world water sustainability challenges. A key feature of the program is the 40-credit-point core sequence, which includes Sustainability through Transdisciplinary Approaches, Water Sustainability in Catchments, Water Planning, Policy and Governance, and Water Sustainability in Agriculture. These subjects provide an in-depth understanding of water systems, environmental sustainability, catchment management, agricultural water use, and governance frameworks. Students develop the ability to analyse complex water-related issues and design sustainable, evidence-based solutions across multiple sectors. The program also includes an 80-credit-point elective or alternate subject component, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests such as environmental science, agriculture, data science, public policy, urban planning, and sustainability management. Overall, the program equips graduates with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to address global water challenges. It prepares students for careers in environmental management, water resource planning, sustainability consulting, agriculture, and policy development, contributing to long-term environmental resilience and sustainable development outcomes.
