COURSE CURRICULUM

Greenhouse horticulture is designed to develop advanced scientific and technical expertise in controlled environment agriculture. The program structure includes a 20-credit-point core component that builds foundational knowledge in horticultural systems and research principles, along with a 20-credit-point Research Capstone Pool where students apply their learning through a research project or professional topic. A major feature of the degree is the 40-credit-point core sequence, which includes Advanced Greenhouse Technology, Greenhouse Control Systems, Greenhouse Crop Production, and Plant-Climate Interactions in Controlled Environments. These subjects provide in-depth understanding of modern protected cropping systems, environmental control technologies, plant physiology, and sustainable crop production methods in greenhouse settings. The program also includes an 80-credit-point Alternate Pool, which allows students to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. This flexibility enables exploration of related fields such as agriculture, plant science, sustainability, water systems, data science, and environmental management. Overall, the program integrates scientific theory, technological application, and practical learning to prepare graduates for careers in greenhouse production, horticultural innovation, research, and sustainable food systems.
