COURSE CURRICULUM

This 160-credit-point postgraduate program is designed to develop advanced expertise in food science, research methods, data analysis, and interdisciplinary applied sciences. The core component includes foundational subjects such as The Nature of Data and Experiment Design and Project Management, which build essential skills in research planning, experimental design, and data interpretation. Students also complete a research capstone option, selecting from an MSc Research Project, Professional Topic, or Research Preparation in Postgraduate Studies, allowing them to apply theoretical learning to a substantial research or industry-focused project. A key 40-credit-point core sequence focuses on Food Preservation and Packaging Technologies, Food Evaluation, Food Quality Management, and Food Product Design, providing strong technical knowledge in food processing, safety, quality assurance, and innovation in product development. The program further includes an 80-credit-point elective structure divided into two alternate pools. Alternate Pool 1 offers specialised subjects across food science, nutrition, agriculture, horticulture, water systems, data science, and environmental sustainability, enabling deeper disciplinary focus. Alternate Pool 2 provides broader interdisciplinary subjects in business, health sciences, public health, management, policy, and technology, supporting diverse career pathways.
