COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Laws (LLM) is a 160-credit-point postgraduate program structured to provide flexibility, specialised legal knowledge, and advanced research capability for both law and non-law graduates. The program includes a 50-credit-point core component that develops foundational expertise in advanced legal analysis, research, and contemporary legal issues. These core studies strengthen students’ understanding of complex legal principles while enhancing critical thinking, legal writing, and professional reasoning skills. In addition to the core subjects, students complete 10 credit points from Alternate Subjects Group 1 and 20 credit points from Alternate Subjects Group 2, allowing them to explore additional areas of legal and interdisciplinary study aligned with their academic and professional interests. A significant component of the degree is the 40-credit-point Minor, which enables students to specialise in a focused legal area such as Human Rights Law, Finance and Tax Law, Australian Migration Law, or Legal Issues in Construction. This specialised study helps students develop deeper expertise relevant to their career goals. The program also includes 40 credit points of elective space, providing further flexibility to broaden knowledge or undertake advanced subjects from related disciplines. Overall, the structure of the Master of Laws ensures a balanced combination of core legal education, specialised study, research development, and elective flexibility, preparing graduates for advanced professional roles in legal practice, policy, business, government, and international sectors.
