COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Health Science program is structured as a 160-credit-point degree designed to develop advanced knowledge, leadership capability, and applied skills in health service management and practice. The program is flexible and offers 1-year, 1.5-year, and 2-year entry pathways depending on a student’s prior qualifications and experience. The core component includes 20 credit points common to all pathways, providing foundational knowledge in contemporary health systems, leadership principles, and health service practice. An additional 20 credit points of core study are required for students in the 1.5-year and 2-year pathways, allowing for deeper engagement with health service concepts, systems thinking, and professional practice development. A significant component of the degree is the 80-credit-point Major, which enables students to specialise in a focused area of health science and develop advanced expertise relevant to their career goals. In addition, students complete 40 credit points of Alternate or Capstone/Applied Subjects, which emphasise practical application of knowledge through real-world projects, case studies, or workplace-based learning experiences. This structure ensures that students not only gain strong theoretical foundations but also develop applied, decision-making, and leadership skills. Overall, the program prepares graduates to work effectively in complex health environments, contribute to improved health service delivery, and take on leadership roles across diverse healthcare and organisational settings.
