COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Global Security and Justice is a 160-credit-point postgraduate program structured to provide a strong interdisciplinary foundation in security studies, human rights, and social justice, with flexible study pathways. The program includes 80 credit points of core subjects that all students must complete, covering key themes such as Theories of Difference and Diversity, Indigenous Australia: History, Knowledge and Professional Practice, Fundamentals of Cyber Crime and Security in a Global World, Borders, Mobilities and Justice, Social Research in the Digital World, Transnational Crime and Human Security Threat, Comparative International Policing, and Gender Security and Violence. These core units develop a comprehensive understanding of global security challenges and the social, political, and ethical dimensions of justice systems. In addition to the core, students complete alternate subjects depending on their entry pathway. Both Entry Pathway A and B students undertake 40 credit points of alternate study, choosing between Social Science Training Placement or a Social Science Research Project to gain practical or research experience. Students in Entry Pathway A complete an additional 40 credit points from specialised electives such as International Human Rights Law, Australian Migration Law, International Criminal Law and Justice, Issues in the Criminal Justice System, Information and Data Governance Law and Policy, International Disaster Management, and related fields. Overall, the structure ensures graduates develop advanced analytical, research, and policy skills for careers in security, justice, and humanitarian sectors.
