COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering program is structured as a 160-credit-point postgraduate degree designed to develop advanced technical expertise, professional engineering skills, and industry readiness. The core component consists of 60 credit points and includes essential subjects such as Specialised Software Applications, Sustainable Systems, Engineering Project 1 (PG), Engineering Project 2 (PG), and Industrial Experience (PG). The industrial experience component includes a mandatory 12-week placement, which is required for Engineers Australia accreditation and ensures students gain practical exposure to real-world engineering environments. The discipline-specific Master of Engineering component contributes 70 credit points, allowing students to build advanced knowledge in their chosen engineering area. In this stream, students focus on communication and network-based engineering subjects such as Personal Communication Systems, Systems and Network Security, Wireless Networking, Instrumentation and Measurement, Advanced Signal Processing, Advanced Data Networks, and Advanced Biomedical Data and Images. These subjects equip students with strong expertise in modern communication technologies, data transmission systems, signal processing, and biomedical engineering applications. In addition, students complete 30 credit points of level 7 elective subjects, which provide flexibility to broaden or further specialise their learning based on career goals. Overall, the program ensures graduates develop strong theoretical understanding, advanced technical capability, and practical industry experience, preparing them for professional engineering roles in telecommunications, networking, biomedical systems, and related high-technology industries.
